Groupama S.A. is responsible for the general operational coordination of the Group and its subsidiaries, together with the reinsurance of all the Group’s entities (regional mutuals and subsidiaries).

Groupama S.A. is a limited liability company almost entirely held, directly and indirectly, by Groupama’s regional mutuals.

Missions:

  • to define and implement the Group’s operational strategy in a manner consistent with the overall strategy as set by the Fédération Nationale Groupama,
  • reinsure the regional mutuals,
  • supervise the subsidiaries,
  • develop the Group’s overall reinsurance programme,
  • manage the Group’s direct insurance activity,
  • maintain consolidated and combined accounts.

Key figures

Strong growth in premium income and improved profit despite storms. Net profit amounted to 660 million euros as at 31 December 2009, an increase of +142% over 2008.

Groupama S.A.’s ambition is to become one of the top 10 European insurers, while at the same time consolidating and developing its position in France.

International development strategy

2009, a year dedicated to mergers and integrations between the international subsidiaries. Today, activities outside France represent 30% of Groupama S.A. insurance revenues.
